Infant Care in Chilliwack, BC (0-18 Months)
Infant Care is our program for babies aged 0 to 18 months at Petits Pals Childcare, a licensed child care centre in Chilliwack, BC. The program is built on attachment, responsive caregiving, and support for the earliest stages of physical, cognitive, and language development.
Ratios and Staffing
Infant Care is staffed at one educator for every four infants. Each baby is assigned one primary caregiver, so care stays consistent throughout the day instead of rotating between staff.
Daily Schedule
Arrival, diapering, and free play, including tummy time, sensory exploration, mirrors, and soft toys

Feeding
Fresh formula or breast milk and baby food are supplied by families daily. All bottles and food containers are labelled and colour-coded to each infant, with a colour chart kept in the classroom. As recommended by the Canadian Pediatric Society, infants younger than 12 months are fed formula or breast milk, and children between 12 and 24 months may also be fed whole milk. Solid food and cereal are not fed in a bottle unless specified in writing by a medical provider. Nursing mothers are welcome to visit and feed on-site, and expressed milk can be stored at the centre.
Diapering
Diapers are checked at least every two hours and upon waking, and changed promptly when soiled or wet. Baby powder is not used at our centre due to the risk of respiratory irritation. Rash cream provided by parents is applied as needed, with skin checked hourly.
Screen Time and Active Play
In line with our centre-wide policy, screen use is not offered to infants under two years of age.
